Hello everyone!
Congratulations to President Obama for his second term in office!
To celebrate the Presidents Inauguration, the Thrifty Broads are back, but this time we're headed out of town for the Inauguration festivities in Washington DC! TaNisha and I were in need of a few clothing items for the trip, because we were invited to a ball and some other events in DC courtesy of our wonderful sister Karen.

Well, if there is going to be a ball, you know we needed ball gowns. If we needed ball gowns, there was only one place to get them...... The GOODWILL :)
SO we headed out to find some threads, and I'm more than happy to share our finds with you on my blog. Here we go!
We headed to The Salvation Army to find gowns, and TaNisha I had a couple of hot ticket items we needed to style ourselves for this trip.
1. A red blazer
I found the Blazer at Value World in Detroit MI, for just......$1.60! I tried it on, and was shocked to see it was a peplum blazer with pleats and super cute buttons. I paired the blazer with a white tee, jeans, my color block shoes from Shoe Mint, and my faux fur infinite scarf from Target.
2. Army fatigue pants
I found these brand new camo pants at the Salvation Army for $4.99 in the men section! I absolutely love these pants. I paired my "Run Det" shirt, jean jacket from Forever 21, my infinite faux fur scarf, and shoes from Bakers.
3. Jogging/Sweat pants and pumps.
I fell in love with this combo when I saw LaLa Anthony rocking it. I saw the combo again in a magazine and on Rihanna.
I wanted to try the combo out, so I grabbed a pair of jogging/sweat pants from the thrift store for $2.99 and paired it with my high heels high hopes top from H&M, and my leather jacket from Ebay.
TaNisha and I both rocked this combo during our stay in DC. It was super comfortable and very tomboy chic.
Now it was time to find our big ticket items, ball gowns. We again came up with a friendly competition to find the gowns at a thrift store for under $44.00 in honor of the 44th president Barack Obama. We headed to the Salvation Army to see what we could find.
TaNisha found this beautiful Lilac gown for $39.99. All tan tags were 50% off making her dress $20.00
I found a red gown for $34.99, and it was a tan tag as well, making it $17.00.
We got dressed and headed off to the ball!
Myself, Karen, and TaNisha
We had a wonderful time at the ball and in the DMV area! I have to thank my sister KAREN. J again for the wonderful time.
You all know that there was no way we were going to leave without going to a goodwill in DC, lol!! Here's what we saw!
These are men shoes that I found on the rack. How cute are these!?
I must say this is probably the BEST Goodwill we have ever went to!!!! TaNisha and I got everything we tried on! I would love to have this Goodwill in Detroit!
Until next time, make sure you donate any gently used clothing items or home goods to your local goodwill. It helps people in need of clothing and of course the Thrifty Broads! Bye guys!!
Dang!! That Salvation Army in Virginia is NICE!!! I will definitely keep in mind while I'm traveling to hit the local Salvation Army. Now I'm excited about my trip to the thrift store tomorrow!!!
